„Bei der Illustratorin Fangfang Han heißt es: ‚Storytelling und emotionale Verbindung sind wichtiger als Ästhetik‘.“

The pandemic was a challenging time, but it also served as an opportunity for many talented creatives to discover their true calling. Fangfang Han is one such individual who found her passion for illustration during lockdown. Originally a fashion buyer in 2020, she has now won a World Illustration Award for New Talent in Animation in 2024.

Fangfang’s journey involved a lot of learning and experimentation with various mediums such as printmaking, collage, hand-drawing, and digital painting. Despite her work now being primarily digital, her style continues to evolve, focusing on storytelling and emotional connections rather than just aesthetics. Hailing from Hefei, China, Fangfang studied illustration in London and has already worked on projects with clients in both the UK and China.

One of her most notable works is an animation called The Tube, which captures the essence of riding the London Underground in her unique and whimsical style. Inspired by her experiences on the Tube, Fangfang aimed to humanize and beautify the daily commute, incorporating elements of Chinese-inspired cut-paper animation. This piece, along with others, led her to win a prestigious award in animation.

Today, Fangfang splits her time between London and Hefei, drawing inspiration from both cultures in her work. Her upbringing surrounded by traditional Chinese arts and exposure to global influences like Disney animations and French comics have shaped her unique artistic style.
