„Neue Dokumentation enthüllt das einfühlsame Handwerk eines Meister-Gitarrenbauers“

Tarik and Hax from Oh Brother Creative are a London-based duo specializing in video production and commercial photography. Drawing from their background in documentary and street photography, they create content with a unique natural look. Fun fact: they are actually brothers.

„We’ve been working together for most of our professional lives, starting out as musicians, then running restaurants, and finally settling into our roles as a creative film and photography team for the past decade,“ Tarik explains. „Our work focuses mainly on people, and we are dedicated to producing authentic content with a natural aesthetic.“

Their latest project, „Journey of Wood,“ delves into the world of Nick Branwell, a modern-day luthier (maker of stringed instruments) with a non-traditional creative journey.

Nick’s story is unconventional for a guitar maker. In the 1960s, he made electric guitars for his school band, sparking a lifelong passion for the craft. Despite detours into various fields like carpentry and gardening, Nick eventually found his way back to guitar making. With a solid foundation in carpentry and a deep understanding of playing instruments, he dove into luthiery.

Today, Nick meticulously handcrafts only eight guitars per year in a converted church hall in south London. „Journey of Wood“ not only showcases Nick’s craftsmanship but also explores the interconnected world of musical instrument creation, highlighting the relationships between materials, makers, and musicians.

Tarik and Hax’s documentary captures the essence of Nick’s workshop and the dedication that fuels his work. Drawing from their musical background, the filmmakers present Lutherie as more than just a job; it’s a traditional art form enriched by personal expression.

„Nick’s dedication to guitar making resonated with us immediately, not just for its creativity but because it reflects our own creative journey from playing music to creating visual content,“ Tarik shares. „His work is all about connections, from the materials he uses to the musicians who bring his guitars to life.“
