“Then we got back to the pit and we found something wrong with the car, so we had to thrash to get it fixed. We fixed it and we got back up there and put it in the winner’s circle. It’s just one of those things where you have to capitalize on the opportunity when it arises, and that’s what we did today. We’re in a good spot heading into Pomona, and we’ll just keep our heads down and keep working hard.”
In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Gaige Herrera continued his incredible season by earning his 10th victory of the year, defeating Steve Johnson in the final round with a run of 6.807 at 199.55 on his Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson. Herrera now has a commanding 175-point lead over second-place Hector Arana Jr. heading into the finale and is on the brink of his first career world championship.
“To win 10 races in a season is just incredible,” Herrera said. “We’ve had an amazing year and to be in this position heading into Pomona is just a dream come true. The team has worked so hard all year and it’s paying off. We just have to finish strong in Pomona and hopefully we can bring home the championship.”
