Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine has hinted at „huge superstars“ making surprise appearances at the final Black Sabbath show later this year.
Earlier this year, the iconic metal band announced details of their last-ever live performance, set to take place in Birmingham’s Villa Park on July 5.
In addition to the original line-up of Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, the band will also be joined by a star-studded list of opening acts and special guests, including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Lamb Of God, Tool, Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Guns N‘ Roses, Halestorm, Gojira, and more.
Morello, who has taken on the role of „musical director“ for the event, shared further details about the massive gig, aiming to make it the greatest day in heavy metal history.
He explained that preparations are well underway, with surprises planned for the setlist. Morello expressed his gratitude for being part of the event, given his deep appreciation for heavy metal and the influence of Black Sabbath on his musical journey.
Sharon Osbourne revealed that Morello was chosen for his knowledge of music genres, especially Sabbath, and his passion for the project. She commended his work in organizing the various bands and performances for the show.
As the gig approaches, Ozzy Osbourne has been working on building up his strength for the event, returning to the gym in preparation for the performance.
Producer Andrew Watt provided an update on Ozzy’s health, noting that while his body may not always cooperate, his voice remains strong. Ozzy himself acknowledged his health challenges but expressed his determination to participate in the show to the best of his abilities.
Despite his battle with Parkinson’s disease, Ozzy’s wife Sharon reassured fans that his voice is unaffected and that he is looking forward to the final Sabbath show as a chance to express his gratitude to his fans.
Sharon also clarified that the event will focus on celebrating the band’s classic music rather than introducing new material. Meanwhile, other band members have shared their excitement for the reunion, with some past members expressing disappointment at not being included in the final show.
The event promises to be a memorable celebration of Black Sabbath’s legacy, with surprises and special guests adding to the excitement of the historic occasion.
