Tonight, Art Vinyl announced the winner of the 20th Best Art Vinyl Award at the Hari in Belgravia, London. Toronto-based multimedia artist Rajni Perera took first place for her cover art on Hiatus Kaiyote’s album ‚Love Heart Cheat Code‘. The album was chosen from a shortlist of 50 vinyl cover art designs from 2024.
Perera’s work explores themes of hybridity, futurity, and marginalized identities. The band’s singer, Nai Palm, reached out to Perera to use her artwork for a tattoo, leading to the album cover collaboration. Perera expressed gratitude for the award and praised the band’s artistic skill.
In second place was Taiwanese artist Lulu Lin for Fontaines D.C’s album ‚Romance‘, known for bold and electric visuals. London-born photographer Louis Browne took third place for Carlita’s album ‚Sentimental‘, showcasing a softer visual style. The Best Art Vinyl Award celebrates the collaboration between musicians and visual artists, highlighting the importance of vinyl visual storytelling in the music industry.
