Zosia Bońkowska, also known as Zov__ska, hails from Poznań, Poland, but made the move to London five years ago to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Hertfordshire. Graduating in 2021, she has since built an illustration portfolio that is not only interesting but also outrageous, captivating, energetic, and completely unique.
Fascinated by the human body, Zosia enjoys creating character-driven lifestyle illustrations with a playful contemporary style, infused with humor and loose linework. She emphasizes the importance of line and gesture in her work.
Constantly sketching, Zosia fills her sketchbooks with quirky characters, pushing their expressions to the extreme, manipulating different body parts to bring out drama, humor, and emotion. Her morphological explorations spare no one.
Drawing inspiration from her 14 years of ballet training, Zosia infuses her work with motion. Her style evolves from pencil and ink studies to abstract human forms, balancing simplicity and detail, monochrome and vibrant colors.
Zosia’s fearless and dynamic approach resonates with clients, as seen in her self-initiated campaign, „No Room for Judgement,“ focusing on mental health awareness.
Despite her peculiar style, Zosia attracts diverse clients. One of her first freelance commissions after graduation was creating military-themed beer labels for a Polish company that restores military vehicles. She continues to produce merchandise for them in her distinctive style.
One of Zosia’s recent favorite projects involved creating imagery for the carrot issue of Rebel Roots, a plant-based food magazine. Her suggestions were well-received, resulting in three illustrations and several mini spots throughout the publication.
